CASA of the 31st Judicial District held its 13th Annual Fathers Day Charity Golf Tournament on June 16 to and to have some fun while raising funds to increase the size of the Court Appointed Special Advocates program in this Judicial District.
Fathers play a huge role in raising children and keeping them safe, so what better day to celebrate advocacy for children.
The tournament was held at the Allen County Country Club and was hosted by District Court Judges Daniel Creitz and David Rogers. The funds support the Court Appointed Special Advocates Program (CASA) which recruits, trains and supports volunteer advocates who the judges assign to children who have been abused or neglected and found by the court to be in need of care.
With a roster of 21 teams, the competition was divided into three flights.
First place in the A Flight were the Sultans of Swing, with team members Earl Walter, Dennis Skahan, Kaden Macha and Jason Barnett from Iola. Second place in A Flight was the TCI Judges #1 Team, with team members David Rogers, Fred Lorentz, Carl Dinkel and Tim Woodcock, all from Fredonia.
In B Flight, coming in first was Bank of Commerce, with team members Jerry Bowman, Kraig Follmer, John Guinotte and Brad Davis from Chanute. Second place was B&W Trailer Hitches, with team members James Works, Steven Lucke, Ken Taiclet and Todd Granere, mostly from Humboldt.
In C Flight, Community National Bank took first place with team members Tom Strickler, Terryl Mueller, Barry Lee and Joel Sutherland from Iola. Coming in second place was Time Out Tavern/ Midwest Production, with team members Chuck Shafer, Mike Yates, Mike Layne and Nancy Roberts, from Iola.
In the remaining golf contests, Darlene Meats of the Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center Team won Womens Closest to the Pin and Mike Page of the Judges #2 Team won Mens Closest to the Pin contest. Tim Stinnett of the Stinnett Team won the Longest Drive contest and Tom Strickler of the Community National Bank Team won the Longest Putt contest.
